Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini highlighted the glorious history and profound dignity of the Agrawal community while speaking as the chief guest at the 5143rd foundation day celebrations of the Agrawal Samaj. Organised by the All India Agrawal Maitri Sangh at the Sector 17 Circus Ground in Chandigarh, the grand event drew thousands of community members from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and other northern states. Saini lauded the community’s frontline role in everything from India’s independence struggle to its modern economic fortification, commending event organiser Pradeep Goel for assembling such an impactful gathering.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the timeless teachings of Maharaja Agrasen remain highly relevant and inspiring today, particularly his foundational principle of “one rupee and one brick,” which promoted a unique model of mutual co-operation and structural self-reliance. Saini stated that following this egalitarian path, the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively working on the principle of inclusive development for all. National initiatives such as Startup India and the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign have successfully extended fresh opportunities and a renewed identity to the merchant and trading classes across the country.
Detailing regional advancements, Saini showcased how the Haryana government is actively working toward its comprehensive vision document for a developed Haryana by the year 2047. To foster breakthrough innovations, the state has uniquely established a dedicated Department of the Future and rolled out an aggressive startup policy that has nurtured a vibrant entrepreneurial culture, positioning Haryana as the fourth-largest economic contributor in the country. The administration has created a 2,000-crore fund of funds to incentivize robust investments and set up a specialized MSME directorate that is currently overseeing development projects worth 170 crores across 48 distinct MSME clusters. Furthermore, to provide massive administrative relief to the business community, the government has eliminated more than 1,100 redundant rules across 48 state departments.
Turning his attention to regional politics, Saini sharply criticised the neighbouring Punjab government, claiming that a distinct lack of political will, combined with flawed policies and administrative mismanagement, has severely damaged local trade, industry, and the prospects of Punjabi youth. He argued that the electorate now demands concrete results over mere rhetoric and genuine development over empty promises. He called upon the trading community and citizens to support a transition toward good governance and nationalism in Punjab, mirroring the successful double-engine model implemented in Haryana.
The event also featured powerful addresses from several prominent socio-religious leaders. Former Haryana minister and programme organiser Aseem Goel Nanyola urged community members to honour the historical icon as Lord Agrasen, display his image in homes and offices, and bring children to the sacred Agroha Dham to connect with their roots. Spiritual leaders Swami Sampurnanand Maharaj and Pandit Vijay Shankar Mehta of the Hanuman Pariwar Ujjain reflected deeply on the cultural legacy of the Agrawal Samaj, praising its historical commitments to philanthropy, the eradication of animal sacrifice, and the preservation of core societal values like non-violence, compassion, and socio-economic equality.
