Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the statewide “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” on Thursday by flagging off and actively participating in the “Nasha-Mukt Haryana NaMo Marathon” in Ambala. Addressing thousands of youth, athletes, students, and citizens, the Chief Minister urged the younger generation to firmly reject substance abuse and commit their energies toward constructive goals, sports, and entrepreneurship. Prior to inaugurating the marathon, Saini participated in a tree-planting drive to promote environmental conservation.
Coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and Vishwakarma Day, Chief Minister Saini extended congratulations on behalf of the state’s residents, commending Modi’s quarter-century of public service. Saini noted that central welfare and skill programs—including Khelo India, Fit India, Skill India, Startup India, the Mudra Scheme, and Stand-Up India—have collectively built structured avenues for India’s youth to channel their talent and secure financial independence.
Highlighting the societal toll of narcotics, the Chief Minister cautioned that while substance use might offer temporary escape, it inflicts lasting damage on health, personal confidence, families, and communities. He urged young individuals to uphold the sacrifices and aspirations of their parents, emphasizing that the provincial objective extends beyond prevention to fostering an environment where physical athletics replace addiction and clear focus overcomes despair. Saini asserted that Haryana’s youth must be recognized for their resilience and achievements rather than the shadow of substance abuse, describing the demographic as a primary driving force toward the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision.
During the event, Chief Minister Saini administered an anti-drug pledge to participants, while local artist Amit Saini Rohtakiya performed motivational songs to engage the crowd. The district administration also distributed commendation certificates to runners. Several prominent dignitaries attended the event, including former minister Aseem Goel Nanyola, Ambala Mayor Akshita Saini, BJP District President Mandeep Rana, Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma, Inspector General of Police Pankaj Nain, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, and Superintendent of Police Ajit Singh Shekhawat.
