EXTORTION AND GUNFIRE TERROR CASE IN BC: MAN CHARGED IN MULTIPLE SHOOTINGS AND ARSON ATTACKS TARGETING BUSINESSES

Surrey ( Rajeev Sharma): A major investigation led by the Surrey Police Service and Abbotsford Police Department has resulted in multiple criminal charges against a man accused in a series of violent extortion-related incidents across British Columbia.

Authorities confirmed that Gursewak Singh, 22, has been charged following coordinated investigations into shootings, arson attacks, and extortion threats targeting businesses in Surrey and Abbotsford in December 2025. Police say that on December 14, 2025, officers responded to reports of gunfire at a business in the 8000 block of 120 Street in Surrey. Investigators confirmed that the building sustained bullet damage. The business had reportedly been receiving extortion threats prior to the attack, and staff inside at the time were fortunate to escape injury.

Just one day later, on December 15, 2025, emergency crews were called to another business in the 12400 block of Old Yale Road after two vehicles were set on fire in what police described as a targeted arson incident. That business was also linked to extortion threats, raising concerns about a coordinated pattern of intimidation. On December 17, 2025, Abbotsford Police Department officers arrested the accused following a separate shooting incident on King Road. Investigators later determined a possible connection between all three events, prompting a joint investigation between the two police agencies and SPS Organized Crime Unit.

Following the investigation, Singh is now facing a wide range of serious Criminal Code charges, including discharge of a firearm at a place, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, extortion using a firearm, arson, and multiple firearm possession offences. He is also facing additional charges related to the Abbotsford case. Police confirmed that the accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 22, 2026.

Authorities are urging anyone with further information related to the case to come forward, either through Surrey Police Service, Crime Stoppers, or the dedicated extortion tip line, as investigations into organized criminal activity continue across the region.
