Donald Trump Highlights Secret Maritime Mission, Claims US Ensured Safe Oil Flow Through Hormuz

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has claimed that a covert military operation authorised by his administration helped secure the Strait of Hormuz and ensured the uninterrupted movement of global energy supplies through one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said he had instructed the US military last month to undertake a confidential mission aimed at protecting oil tankers and commercial vessels operating in the region.

According to the President, the operation enabled more than 100 million barrels of crude oil to transit safely through the Strait and enter international markets. He also stated that over 200 merchant ships successfully navigated the route under the protection provided during the mission.

Trump described the outcome as a significant achievement for the United States, asserting that American forces had established effective control over security in the Strait of Hormuz. He further claimed that Iran no longer holds influence over the vital shipping corridor and alleged that the country’s military and economic strength had been severely diminished.

The Strait of Hormuz serves as a crucial gateway for global oil exports, with a substantial portion of the world’s energy shipments passing through the narrow channel connecting the Persian Gulf to international waters. Any instability in the area can have immediate repercussions for global fuel prices and international trade.

The President’s remarks come amid continuing geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region, where concerns over maritime security have remained high. While Trump portrayed the operation as a decisive success for the US military, independent confirmation of the mission’s scope and the figures cited has not been made public.

The statement underscores Washington’s emphasis on protecting strategic sea lanes and maintaining the uninterrupted flow of global commerce through one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints.
