Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has blamed Democrats for a sharp stock market decline following the election results, claiming the downturn had negatively affected Americans’ retirement savings.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump described the market performance as one of the worst days in history, linking the decline to the election outcome. He also expressed disappointment over the losses, arguing that his administration had worked hard to bring the stock market to unprecedented levels.
Trump specifically pointed to the impact on Americans’ 401(k) retirement accounts, saying their savings had fallen following the market downturn.
Blaming Democrats for the situation, the US president wrote that Republicans were not responsible for the losses. He expressed confidence that the American economy and financial markets would recover, predicting that the country would emerge stronger than before.
Ending his message with his familiar political slogan, Trump urged Americans not to lose confidence and reiterated his commitment to making America great again.
His remarks come amid market volatility following the election results, although the extent of the market’s movement and its impact on retirement portfolios would require separate financial data to establish.
