He had sought temporary release on parole to attend the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament. A Bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjeev Berry declined to grant relief. During the hearing, Amritpal Singh argued that he represents nearly 1.9 million voters and that his continued detention amounts to a denial of democratic representation.
