Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): A community media-thon has raised approximately $821,000 for the planned expansion of Gobind Sarvar School, organizers said. The funds will support the “5 Acres for Our Future” campaign and help secure additional land for expanded educational facilities.
Organized in support of Gurdwara Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Calgary Savana, the media-thon was supported by Ethnic Media Calgary and brought together donors, media organizations, volunteers and community members.
Organizers said the expansion will provide students with an enhanced learning environment while promoting the Punjabi language, culture and heritage and strengthening connections to their cultural and linguistic roots.
They attributed the fundraising success to the support of the sangat and wider community, thanking Ethnic Media Calgary, participating media partners, volunteers, donors and other supporters for their contributions.
