National Times Bureau: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a draft of its 2024 regulations aimed at reshaping undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) education in India. These reforms target a more dynamic, interdisciplinary, and inclusive higher education system. Key proposals include eliminating discipline-specific eligibility criteria for UG and PG admissions, implementing biannual admissions, introducing multiple entry and exit options, and recognizing prior learning. Students may also soon be allowed to pursue two UG or PG programs simultaneously. UGC Chairperson M.
