Yamuna Tragedy: Multi-Agency Search Continues After Four Schoolboys Swept Away in Delhi

News Alert

Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Rescue teams continued their search for four minor boys who went missing after being swept away by the Yamuna River’s strong current near Hiranki village in Delhi’s Alipur area. The incident occurred when the children entered the river for a bath and were caught in the fast-flowing water.

According to officials, the boys were part of a group of five friends visiting the river. One child managed to remain safe and immediately alerted nearby people after seeing his friends being carried away by the current. Emergency services were informed soon after, leading to a large-scale rescue operation.

Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Delhi Police have been deployed at the site. Boats and specialised rescue equipment are being used to search the affected stretch of the river.

The incident has left the victims’ families in deep distress. Relatives have remained at the riverbank, anxiously waiting for updates as rescue teams continue combing the area. According to family members, all four missing boys studied in the same class and had gone to the river together.

Officials said the search operation has been challenging due to the strong water flow and limited visibility in certain sections of the river. The teams are continuing efforts in the hope of locating the missing children as quickly as possible.

The tragedy has once again highlighted the dangers of entering rivers during periods of high water levels and strong currents. Authorities have urged residents, particularly children and teenagers, to avoid venturing into unsafe areas of the Yamuna to prevent similar incidents.
