Sheikh Hasina has secured her fifth term as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh after winning the national election held on Sunday. Despite the boycott by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by former PM Khaleda Zia, who is currently in jail, Sheikh Hasina's Awami League emerged victorious for a fourth consecutive term in the 12th parliamentary election.
