Mumbai (Gurpreet Singh): The Maharashtra government has officially withdrawn the five per cent reservation for members of the Muslim community in government jobs and educational institutions, issuing a Government Resolution (GR) on Tuesday. The decision comes after the earlier ordinance granting the quota lapsed and remains under an interim stay by the court. According to the new GR, all previous provisions related to the five per cent reservation for socially and educationally backward Muslims under the Special Backward Category (A) have been cancelled.
