Anmol Bishnoi Moves Mumbai Court to Join Salman Khan Firing Case Trial

Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Gangster Anmol Bishnoi has filed an application before a Mumbai special court expressing his willingness to surrender in the case related to the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. Currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a separate investigation, Anmol has requested the court to facilitate his appearance so that he can formally become part of the ongoing trial.

In the plea, Anmol stated that he is already in judicial custody under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and cannot appear before the Mumbai court without an official production order. He urged the court to make the necessary arrangements for either his physical or virtual appearance, allowing legal formalities to be completed.

The application argues that his surrender would help ensure a fair trial and prevent unnecessary delays in the judicial process. According to the plea, his participation would not hamper the prosecution’s case but would instead assist in the smooth conduct of the proceedings.

The firing incident took place outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area on April 14, 2024, when two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire before fleeing. The attack sparked a major investigation by Mumbai Police, leading to multiple arrests.

Several accused linked to the case are currently in judicial custody, while one suspect allegedly died during police custody. Investigators have also named jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol’s elder brother, among the wanted accused in the alleged conspiracy behind the attack.

Court proceedings have already begun, and witnesses have started recording their statements. Anmol’s plea highlights that evidence is being examined in his absence and requests that he be allowed to participate in the trial through the proper legal mechanism.

Anmol Bishnoi was deported from the United States to India last year and was subsequently arrested by the NIA in another criminal case. Investigating agencies have linked him to several high-profile cases across the country.

The special MCOCA court will now decide on his application and determine the procedure for his production before the Mumbai court. The outcome of the plea is expected to shape the next phase of the trial in the Salman Khan residence firing case.
