New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was remembered on his death anniversary as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders paid homage to the veteran politician at his memorial, Sadaiv Atal.
Modi visited the memorial and laid floral tributes in remembrance of Vajpayee, recalling his contribution to the country and describing him as a leader with exceptional vision and a deep commitment to public service.
In a message shared on X, Modi said Vajpayee’s life and political work had influenced generations. He also credited the former Prime Minister’s leadership with helping strengthen the nation.
Modi recalls Vajpayee’s governance vision
The Prime Minister particularly highlighted Vajpayee’s emphasis on good governance and the welfare of citizens.
Modi said the principles that guided Vajpayee’s approach to public service would continue to provide direction in the years ahead.
Vajpayee, a towering figure in Indian politics, served as Prime Minister and remained associated with public life for several decades. He was also widely recognised for his parliamentary interventions and oratory.

President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also visited Sadaiv Atal and offered floral tributes to the former Prime Minister.
The remembrance ceremony brought senior political leaders and dignitaries to the memorial to honour Vajpayee’s contributions to the country.
Vajpayee died on August 16, 2018, at the age of 93. His death anniversary is observed every year as an occasion to remember his long political career and his role in India’s public life.
The tributes this year again focused on his vision, leadership and commitment to national service, with leaders recalling the impact of his work on India’s political landscape.
