Alberta Targets French and German Markets to Boost International Tourism

Alberta Minister to Attend Global Women’s Shelter Summit, Strengthen Family Violence Prevention Strategy

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Alberta is stepping up efforts to attract more international tourists, with a new trade mission to France and Germany aimed at expanding industry partnerships, improving visitor access and increasing tourism-related spending.

Minister of Tourism and Sport Andrew Boitchenko will lead the mission alongside representatives from Travel Alberta from November 8 to 14. The delegation is scheduled to meet with airlines, tour operators and other industry stakeholders to explore opportunities to bring more visitors to the province.

The initiative forms part of Alberta’s broader tourism strategy, which seeks to strengthen ties with important international markets, support better air connectivity and showcase the province as a destination offering experiences throughout the year.

Boitchenko said France and Germany remain significant markets for Alberta and highlighted the importance of working closely with travel industry partners to expand the province’s reach.

He said stronger international relationships could help increase visitor numbers and spending, while creating further opportunities for Alberta-based businesses and supporting employment in the tourism sector.

During his visit to France, Boitchenko will also represent Alberta at a meeting with Canada’s Ambassador to France. His schedule includes attending a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial.

The government said the mission is intended to strengthen Alberta’s international tourism presence and introduce more travellers to the province’s landscapes and attractions.
