Gurdaspur (Gurpreet Singh): Gurdaspur Police have claimed a significant breakthrough against an alleged interstate arms-smuggling network, with the arrest of four people and the recovery of seven firearms and eight magazines.
According to police, the seized weapons include one Glock pistol and six .30-calibre pistols. The recovery was made during an operation aimed at tracing the supply chain behind the illegal movement of firearms.
Preliminary questioning of the suspects has reportedly pointed investigators towards an international network. Police said the accused allegedly had links to a person based in Dubai, while their suspected forward connection was with an individual in the United States.
Investigators allege that the accused were directed to obtain the illegal firearms as part of the wider network’s activities. Police are now examining the communications and connections of the arrested individuals to determine the extent of the operation.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Kalanaur, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are working to identify other people who may have been involved and establish the alleged backward and forward links associated with the weapons supply chain.
Police said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal arms networks operating across state and international borders. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
