Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated an eye and anaemia screening camp at the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Police Line, Ambala, organized jointly by the state health and education departments. Held under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the healthcare initiative aimed to provide comprehensive medical check-ups to school students, with a special focus on young girls. Former provincial minister Aseem Goel Nanyola was present alongside the Chief Minister during the launch event.
Commending the initiative, Chief Minister Saini highlighted the critical role such interventions play in student welfare, noting that medical screenings ensure early detection of deficiencies and timely therapeutic support. He observed that girls diagnosed with anaemia would receive immediate prescription medicines and clinical guidance to reverse nutritional deficits, while also personally distributing nutritional kits to female students. During an inspection of the ophthalmological wing, Saini interacted with attending optometrists and medical specialists to review diagnostic protocols and screen procedures.
The Chief Minister stressed that the statewide launch of the 100-day Anaemia-Mukt Bharat campaign serves to accelerate early diagnosis, preventative intervention, and public awareness across communities. Former minister Aseem Goel pointed out that following precise visual acuity assessments, corrective spectacles were distributed to students free of charge based on ophthalmologists’ advice. Goel confirmed that health teams will systematically screen haemoglobin levels of children and adolescent girls across educational institutions while educating them on nutrient-rich diets and preventative measures.
Providing administrative details, Civil Surgeon Dr. Renu Beri outlined that the 100-day intensive healthcare drive will encompass health centres, Anganwadi facilities, schools, and grassroots community levels across the district. Specialized mobile medical teams will prioritize targeted screenings, immediate medical treatments, dietary counselling, and systematic follow-up assessments to ensure lasting health improvements among beneficiaries.
