Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the 51st Barsi Samagam of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji of Rara Sahib at Jurasi in Pehowa, Kurukshetra, paying rich tributes to the revered spiritual figure. Addressing the gathering of saints, religious leaders, and devotees, the Chief Minister announced a financial grant of 2.1 million rupees for the Gurdwara Management Committee. Saini emphasized that remembering holy personalities goes beyond commemorative ceremonies, serving as an opportunity for society to adopt their timeless teachings of selfless service, meditation, and human welfare.
Recalling the life of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji, the Chief Minister noted that he was born on August 5, 1905, in Alowal village of Patiala district to Mata Ratan Kaur and Sardar Ram Singh Nambardar. Named Gulab Singh in his childhood, he later received spiritual guidance from Sant Attar Singh Ji of Reru Sahib, took Amrit, and became Isher Singh. Devoting his entire life to Gurbani, Kirtan, and Gurmat propagation, Baba Isher Singh Ji left an enduring legacy of compassion and spiritual devotion that continues to guide millions of followers worldwide.
Highlighting the significance of the day, Chief Minister Saini observed that the occasion coincided with Vishwakarma Jayanti—celebrating craftsmanship, labour, and innovation—as well as the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is being marked across the nation through widespread community service initiatives. The Chief Minister affirmed that embracing humility and active dedication to societal welfare represents the truest homage to great spiritual mentors.
The Chief Minister commended Chief Jathedar Baba Mani Singh for organizing the commemorative gathering with deep devotion. The religious program featured the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib and Sehaj Path Sahib, alongside Diwans, saint congregations, Kavi Darbars, community prayers, and Amrit Sanchar ceremonies. Several prominent dignitaries attended the event, including former state minister Subhash Sudha, senior BJP leader Jai Bhagwan, Zila Parishad Chairperson Kawaljeet Kaur Maur, Deputy Commissioner Vishram Meena, local sarpanch Nishan Singh, media coordinator Tushar Saini, and prominent spiritual figures including Baba Surjit Singh and Baba Dilbagh Singh.
