Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Addressing a state-level event in Gurugram on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Nitin Nabin paid tribute to the millions who endured displacement, loss, and suffering during the 1947 Partition of India. Nabin stated that observing the day is essential for anchoring future generations to their historical roots, emphasizing that the objective of recalling this painful chapter is not to generate animosity, but to draw critical lessons that fortify national unity, integrity, and social harmony.
The event saw the presence of several senior leaders, including Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh, Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia, and Haryana BJP State President Dr. Archana Gupta. Nabin noted that a nation that understands and learns from its history is better equipped to guide its future, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day so the younger generation remains aware of the hardships borne by common citizens. He also acknowledged the relief and rehabilitation efforts carried out by civil society and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers during the migration crisis.
Taking aim at the opposition, Nabin criticized the historic Congress leadership for accepting the division of the nation for political power and failing to publicly apologize to the affected families. He alleged that while the opposition talks of uniting the country, its political approach continues to divide society, contrasting it with the present administration’s focus on national integration, cultural heritage, and economic development. He called upon the youth, including those in Jammu and Kashmir, to stay away from divisive politics and channel their energies into startups, innovation, and nation-building.
Commending the governance model in Haryana under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Nabin lauded the state’s transparent, merit-based recruitment system and the outstanding achievements of female athletes on the international stage. Urging parents to educate their children about the freedom struggle and the Partition tragedy, he concluded that a well-informed generation is vital to securing India’s progress toward becoming a developed nation.
