Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Education Minister Conduct Surprise Inspection of Bastara Women’s College

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker,  Sh. Harvinder Kalyan and Education Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda conducted a surprise inspection of Government  College for Women Gharaunda, Bastara, in Karnal District, on Saturday. During the visit, they interacted with the students for nearly an hour to understand the facilities available at the college, as well as its problems and requirements. They also sought suggestions from the students regarding improvements and facilities needed for their bright future.

Education Minister,  Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that the State Government is continuously working to improve the education system and is taking several steps to provide better facilities to students under the new education system. He said the government is committed to ensuring that students do not face any shortcomings in the field of education.

He said the government is working towards establishing libraries in every village of the State. Such libraries would be particularly useful for students in rural areas, where they would be able to study in a quiet and focused environment. He said providing children with a better academic environment is a priority of the government.

The Education Minister further said that the government has set a target of signing around 2,000 MoUs with companies with the objective of creating more employment opportunities for students in colleges and technical educational institutions across the State. This would provide students with better placement opportunities after completing their education and enhance their employability.

Regarding the issue of unrecognised private schools operating in the State, the Education Minister said that a meeting had been held with the managements of such schools in Chandigarh on the matter. Such schools have been directed to address their shortcomings. He said the government’s objective is to ensure the quality of education and safeguard the interests of students.

During the interaction, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker,  Sh. Harvinder Kalyan enquired about the use of the library and asked the students how many of them visited the library to study. He said students often do not get the required environment for studying at home, and libraries therefore provide them with a better opportunity to study with concentration.

Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said that library facilities are particularly important for students in rural areas. He said the Haryana Government has planned to establish libraries in all villages and appealed to people from all sections of society to ensure their participation in this initiative.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker said the interaction with the students yielded several useful suggestions. He said the government is formulating policies while keeping in view the needs and suggestions of students at the ground level. He added that initiatives based on direct suggestions received from students produce better results.

Regarding the stalled construction of the Women’s College building, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said the construction work had remained suspended due to a court stay. He said the court has now delivered its decision and the construction of the college building would be completed soon. He assured the students that the necessary facilities at the college would be provided on priority.

Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said the present government is working seriously towards bringing improvements in the education sector. Providing students with quality education along with the necessary infrastructure and facilities is a priority of the government, he said. He added that continuous efforts are being made to address students’ problems and consider their suggestions so that the youth of the State can have access to better education and a conducive environment for a bright future.
