Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): In a major push to steer youth away from substance abuse and channel their energy toward nation-building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the national ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva For Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyaan’ on August 2, 2026. As part of this nationwide initiative, lakhs of youth across Haryana will join the launch virtually, taking a pledge to build a drug-free society and transforming the campaign into a state-wide mass movement.
The primary state-level event in Haryana will take place in Kurukshetra, with Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh attending as the chief guest. The event will gather students, youth representatives, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations from across the state. Nationwide, the Prime Minister is set to address over one crore young citizens across nearly 10,000 event locations via video conferencing.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the state administration is making extensive arrangements to ensure maximum youth participation. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda will support the rollout, while the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, led by Minister of State Gaurav Gautam, will serve as the nodal agency. The department will oversee inter-departmental coordination and state-level logistics to drive the campaign’s success over its entire duration.
In Haryana, the anti-drug drive will run continuously every Sunday for the next 100 weeks. Youth-led community outreach, awareness drives, and constructive activities will be organized weekly to promote healthy lifestyles and positive civic engagement.
To ensure widespread reach, directives have been issued to all public and private universities and colleges across Haryana to broadcast the Prime Minister’s address. Local schools, youth clubs, and social organizations will also extend the campaign into rural and urban areas, fostering a strong community-backed environment against drug addiction.
