New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): In a major cabinet reshuffle, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has taken on the portfolio of Education Minister following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Joshi, who currently oversees the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, will now manage the Education Ministry as an additional responsibility according to a press release issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The official notification detailed that the President of India formally accepted Pradhan’s departure with immediate effect upon the counsel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To maintain continuity in ministry functions, the President subsequently assigned the additional education responsibilities to Joshi alongside his ongoing cabinet duties.
Pradhan stepped down from his position in the wake of nationwide student demonstrations calling for his resignation over recent exam paper leak controversies. Speaking on his exit, Pradhan remarked that maintaining individual prestige was not his priority, sharing his deep concern regarding the series of events that transpired over the preceding ten days.
