Heavy Showers Lash Parts of Punjab, Sutlej River Swells Again; Farmers Fear Flooding Threat

Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Heavy rainfall across the national capital prompted the Delhi government to place all civic and infrastructure agencies on high alert, with officials claiming that the situation on major roads remains under control despite persistent showers.

According to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed the rain-related situation with senior officials and instructed departments to respond swiftly to any instances of water accumulation or traffic disruption.

The government said emergency teams from the Delhi Jal Board, the Public Works Department (PWD), and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been deployed across vulnerable locations to monitor conditions and clear affected stretches wherever required.

Authorities maintained that waterlogging on key arterial roads has been effectively managed so far, while field staff remain stationed at sensitive points to prevent disruptions if rainfall intensifies further.

The administration stated that all concerned agencies are functioning in coordination and have been directed to remain fully prepared to tackle any emergency arising from the ongoing wet weather.

Officials added that continuous monitoring is underway, with drainage pumps, response teams, and engineering staff kept on standby to ensure traffic movement and public services are not severely affected.

The government reiterated that departments are working round the clock to minimise inconvenience to commuters and residents, while urging citizens to exercise caution during heavy rain and follow official advisories issued from time to time.
