CJP Plans Fresh Show of Strength at Jantar Mantar; Delhi Police Steps Up Vigil

Delhi (Gurpreet Singh/Rajeev Sharma): The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led collective that has gained visibility over issues surrounding examination controversies and unemployment, is set to return to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar with another demonstration on Saturday. Organisers have urged participants to carry plates and spoons, describing the act as a symbolic expression of public frustration.

Expecting a significant turnout, the Delhi Police has implemented extensive security arrangements across the protest venue and nearby areas. Nearly 270 body-worn cameras, additional CCTV surveillance systems and multiple layers of barricades have been deployed to ensure close monitoring of the gathering. Senior officers and reserve personnel have also been stationed to manage the situation if required.

Ahead of the protest, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke issued a public appeal highlighting concerns over alleged examination irregularities and the mental health crisis among students. The organisation has reiterated its demand for accountability in recruitment and entrance examination processes, while also seeking financial assistance for families affected by alleged exam-related tragedies. Supporters from neighbouring states, along with artists and social activists, are expected to join the event.

Born out of an online campaign, the Cockroach Janta Party has evolved into a wider youth movement that uses satire and symbolism to raise issues related to education and employment. Authorities have advised protesters to maintain peace during the demonstration, while traffic and security officials remain prepared for possible diversions depending on the size of the gathering.
