Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday launched the inaugural edition of ‘Jal Sanjeevani’, a departmental magazine published by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), aimed at informing citizens about the department’s schemes, achievements and public welfare initiatives related to water supply and sanitation.
The magazine was unveiled at Haryana Niwas in the presence of Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana and other senior officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Saini described Jal Sanjeevani as an important document that highlights the department’s functioning, achievements and future plans. He said the publication would not only provide information about government initiatives but would also help raise public awareness regarding water conservation, water security and sanitation.
“The magazine will serve as a valuable platform to connect citizens with the department’s welfare-oriented initiatives while promoting awareness about sustainable water management and cleanliness,” the Chief Minister said.
Saini stated that Haryana has established itself as one of the leading states in the country in the areas of water management and rural drinking water supply. He credited the state government’s continuous efforts and the effective functioning of the Public Health Engineering Department for advancing the vision of ensuring clean and adequate drinking water for every citizen.
He further reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing safe drinking water to every household in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa said the magazine presents a comprehensive overview of the department’s initiatives, innovations and achievements in the drinking water and sanitation sectors. It includes details of works carried out under various schemes, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, aimed at providing safe and clean drinking water to residents across Haryana.
According to Gangwa, the publication also highlights achievements related to water supply coverage, infrastructure development, effective budget utilization and water quality management. Information on modern water testing laboratories, advanced treatment facilities and citizen services has also been included.
The minister said the magazine showcases the functioning of water treatment plants and sewage treatment facilities, along with technical innovations, best practices and conservation efforts being undertaken by the department.
It also features community participation initiatives, inspection drives, public outreach programmes, training and capacity-building activities, as well as digital governance measures such as the Haryana Engineering Works Portal, which has enhanced transparency and efficiency in departmental operations.
Gangwa further noted that the department has strengthened its grievance redressal mechanism through a centralized complaint management system to ensure timely resolution of public complaints and improve citizen satisfaction.
He emphasized that Haryana has achieved significant progress in water security and sustainable development through efforts to provide clean drinking water to every rural household, conserve water resources, adopt modern technologies and encourage community participation.
Senior officials present during the launch included Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Deputy Principal Secretary Yashpal Yadav, Chief Engineer Devender Dahiya and Director of the Water and Sanitation Support Organisation Dr. Jaswant Singh.
