Anti-Terror Hunt in Rajouri Enters Fourth Week, Security Forces Maintain Tight Vigil Under Operation Sherawali

Two Terrorists Killed in Baramulla, Infiltration Bid Foiled: Indian Army

Rajouri (Rajeev Sharma): The extensive counter-terror campaign codenamed Operation Sherawali continued unabated on Sunday, marking its 23rd day in the dense forests of Gambir Mughlan in the Manjakote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Security agencies remain engaged in an intensive effort to locate and eliminate suspected terrorist elements operating in the region.

The operation is being jointly executed by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security units, with coordinated search teams combing remote hill ranges and forest belts. Officials said the difficult topography has made the mission challenging, but forces are pressing ahead with sustained surveillance and ground operations.

Personnel deployed in the area are conducting continuous patrols during both day and night to prevent any movement by militants. Additional checkpoints and area domination exercises have also been intensified to strengthen security and reassure residents living in nearby villages.

Authorities said the operation is focused on dismantling any remaining terrorist infrastructure while ensuring that infiltration routes and hideouts are thoroughly searched. Security agencies are maintaining a high level of alertness as the mission progresses into its fourth consecutive week.

The prolonged operation reflects the determination of security forces to deny terrorists any opportunity to regroup or establish a foothold in the region. Officials added that coordinated efforts among multiple agencies have been instrumental in sustaining the search across the rugged terrain.

While no fresh operational details have been officially disclosed, security personnel continue to maintain a strong presence across the affected areas, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding public safety and preserving peace in the Rajouri district.
