UAE Refutes Allegations of Financial Assistance to Iran, Urges Media to Verify Facts

Dubai (Rajeev Sharma): The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong rebuttal to reports alleging that it facilitated the transfer of billions of dollars to Iran, asserting that the claims are entirely inaccurate and unsupported by facts.

In an official communication, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that no frozen Iranian assets have been released, transferred or processed through the country’s financial channels. The ministry maintained that the reports circulating in sections of the international media are baseless and misleading.

The clarification specifically addresses allegations involving an alleged transfer of USD 3 billion to the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the ministry, no such transaction has taken place, nor has the UAE played any role in facilitating access to Iranian funds.

The UAE government emphasised that its financial and regulatory systems operate in accordance with international standards and that any suggestion of unauthorised fund transfers is incorrect.

Calling for responsible journalism, the ministry urged media organisations and online platforms to verify information through official sources before publication. It cautioned against the spread of unverified claims, noting that inaccurate reporting on sensitive geopolitical matters can create unnecessary confusion and misinformation.

The statement comes amid heightened international attention on regional developments and financial sanctions involving Iran. By issuing a categorical denial, the UAE has sought to dispel speculation and reaffirm its commitment to transparency and compliance with global financial norms.

Officials reiterated that factual reporting and reliance on authenticated government sources remain essential when covering issues with significant diplomatic and economic implications.
