Gurpreet Singh :- Senior functionaries of the Punjab Education Department, including principals, lecturers, headmasters and Block Primary Education Officers (BPEOs), will now have an opportunity to enter the Punjab Civil Services (Executive Branch) through a special recruitment process initiated under the Register-C quota.
The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has commenced the selection process for eligible government officers serving in various state departments under an internal promotional quota, distinct from the regular open competitive PCS examination.
Education Department officials meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria can apply for induction into the state’s administrative services. However, certain categories of officials, including tehsildars, naib tehsildars, Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs) and Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs), have not been included in the eligibility list for this recruitment.
Applicants must possess a minimum of eight years of regular government service and maintain a clean service record, free from departmental inquiries or pending complaints. Additional marks will be awarded for service beyond the mandatory eight-year requirement, with 0.54 marks allotted for every extra year of regular service.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and should have studied Punjabi up to the matriculation level. While the standard upper age limit for PCS examinations is 40 years, regular government employees, including teachers, will be eligible for an age relaxation of up to five years.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the screening test, length of service and Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs). The written examination will carry 50 per cent weightage and include 100 objective-type questions of graduate-level standard. Negative marking will apply, with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer. Candidates will be required to secure at least 30 per cent marks to qualify.
The last date for submission of online applications and fee payment is June 30, 2026. Hard copies of applications, routed through departmental channels, must reach the PPSC office in Patiala by July 30, 2026.
