Cockroach Janta Party Founder Returns to India as Education Minister’s Resignation Demand Gains Momentum

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the emerging youth advocacy platform Cockroach Janta Party, is set to arrive in India on Saturday ahead of a planned demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Dipke, currently residing in Boston, announced his journey through a post on X, stating that he was heading back to India and placing his trust in the country’s constitutional processes. The message quickly drew attention among supporters preparing for the proposed protest.

According to organisers, Dipke is expected to land in the national capital early Saturday morning. Soon after his arrival, he and a group of activists, including noted innovator and social campaigner Sonam Wangchuk, are expected to approach the Parliament Street police station to seek formal permission for the gathering.

The planned sit-in has been presented as a peaceful public demonstration. Organisers say the event is intended to highlight concerns related to the education sector and press for accountability from the ministry.

The campaign was formally introduced to the public earlier this week during a press interaction held at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. Addressing reporters, chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the movement was not restricted by political ideology and welcomed participation from citizens across party lines.

Dipke’s political journey has drawn attention in recent days. Before moving to the United States to pursue studies in public relations, he had a brief association with the Aam Aadmi Party. He now leads the newly formed pressure group, which has sought to mobilise students, young professionals and civil society members around its demands.

With supporters expected to gather at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, all eyes are now on whether authorities grant permission for the demonstration and how many people join the campaign’s first major public mobilisation.
