Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, conducted a comprehensive review of healthcare facilities across Chandigarh on Monday, emphasizing the Administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring quality medical services for citizens. During the visit, he also assessed ongoing developments in educational infrastructure and environmental initiatives across the city. At the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), South Campus, Sector 48, the Administrator reviewed a wide range of healthcare services being provided to the public, including Ayush OPD and Homeopathy services. Health Secretary Shri Mandip Singh Brar briefed him on the upcoming Panchkarma facility, which is expected to further enhance holistic healthcare options for residents.
Reiterating the Administration’s dedication to accessible and quality healthcare, Shri Kataria stressed the need for continuous improvement of medical services and infrastructure in government hospitals. He highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade healthcare facilities to ensure better treatment outcomes and improved patient care for all citizens.
During his visit to GMCH Sector 48, the Administrator also reviewed Physiotherapy, Immunisation, Day Care, Oncology, Yoga, Dental and Paediatric OPDs, as well as Radiation Oncology services. Officials informed him that several new OPDs have recently been introduced and that public awareness campaigns are being conducted to encourage greater utilization of healthcare services. At Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Sector 47, and Civil Hospital, Sector 45, Shri Kataria, accompanied by Health Secretary Shri Mandip Singh Brar and Director Health Services Dr. Suman Singh, reviewed a variety of healthcare facilities. These included pharmacy services, Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Homeopathy OPD, Dental OPD, ANC OPD, ANM/RCH Room, emergency services, ECG facilities, EMO Room services, blood pressure monitoring and malaria laboratory services.
The Administrator also interacted with patients and their attendants to gather feedback on healthcare services. Citizens expressed satisfaction with the facilities and medical care being provided at the institutions.
Later, Shri Kataria visited Government Model Senior Secondary School, Maloya, where he reviewed issues raised during the Maloya Samadhan Shivir. Officials informed him that a tender for the construction of 25 additional classrooms has been approved to strengthen infrastructure at Government High School, Maloya. Education Secretary Ms. Prerna Puri and Director School Education Shri Nitish Singla were also present during the inspection. Earlier in the day, the Administrator visited the Daddu Majra Dumping Ground site to review preparations for a large-scale tree plantation drive scheduled for July. He directed Municipal Commissioner Shri Amit Kumar to complete levelling work on priority to ensure smooth implementation of plantation activities during the upcoming monsoon season.
The visit underscored the Chandigarh Administration’s multi-pronged approach toward enhancing healthcare services, improving educational infrastructure, and promoting environmental sustainability for the overall welfare of residents.
