Gurpreet Singh :- Panic gripped Patiala after the body of a young woman was discovered stuffed inside a blue plastic drum abandoned near the Railway Colony area. The sensational recovery triggered shock and fear among local residents, prompting an immediate police investigation into what authorities suspect to be a planned murder.
According to preliminary information, the drum was found lying at an isolated spot in the locality. Residents grew suspicious after noticing the sealed container and alerted the police. Upon reaching the scene, officers opened the drum and recovered the body of an unidentified young woman packed inside and covered with a red lid, apparently in an attempt to conceal the crime and avoid suspicion.
Police officials stated that efforts are underway to establish the identity of the victim and determine the exact cause of death. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to trace the movement of the drum and identify those involved in dumping the body at the location.
Investigators are also trying to ascertain whether more than one person participated in the crime and how the body was transported to the deserted area without attracting attention.
ASI Gurbinder Singh, who is leading the investigation, said the initial findings indicate that the case could be linked to a personal or romantic relationship dispute. He added that the immediate priority for the police is to identify the deceased woman. For this purpose, her photographs have been circulated to nearby police stations and law enforcement units.
Officials further stated that once the identity of the victim is confirmed, a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the precise circumstances and cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
