Gurpreet Singh :- Panic gripped Ludhiana on Monday after four prominent schools in the city received bomb threat emails warning of explosions on their premises. The threatening messages also mentioned possible attacks targeting the parking area of Halwara Airport and the railway track connecting Dhuri to Delhi, prompting an immediate security response from multiple agencies.
The schools that reportedly received the threats include Bal Bharati School in Dugri, DAV School, Sacred Heart School and The Asian School.
Following the alerts, school authorities immediately informed the police, after which teams of the Punjab Police, bomb disposal squads and other security agencies rushed to the campuses. As a precautionary measure, the schools were evacuated and extensive search operations were carried out across the premises.
The emails further claimed that explosives could be planted at Halwara Airport’s parking area and along the Dhuri-Delhi railway route. In view of the threats, airport authorities and railway security agencies were also placed on high alert.
Police officials said cyber crime teams had begun tracing the origin of the emails. Investigators are currently analysing technical details, including IP addresses and server locations, to identify the sender.
Senior police officials stated that the matter was being treated with utmost seriousness and that security checks were continuing at all sensitive locations mentioned in the threat messages.
No suspicious object had been recovered till the filing of this report, officials added.
