Tehran (Rajeev Sharma): Efforts to resolve the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict continue to face obstacles, with Donald Trump making it clear that Washington is not convinced by Tehran’s latest proposal for negotiations.
Addressing the media, Trump said the offer put forward by Iran fails to meet key US expectations, indicating that significant differences persist between the two sides. He suggested that although dialogue has not completely stopped, the current terms are not something his administration is willing to accept.
Meanwhile, Abbas Araqchi signalled that Iran is still open to diplomatic engagement, but stressed that any meaningful progress would require a shift in what he described as the United States’ aggressive stance. He also reiterated that Iran remains prepared to defend itself against any potential military action.
The ongoing impasse has prolonged uncertainty around the conflict, which has already had far-reaching consequences, including disruptions in global energy supplies and rising geopolitical tensions.
At the same time, Washington’s relations with its allies have shown signs of strain. The decision to pull back thousands of troops from Germany has added to concerns about coordination among Western nations on handling the crisis.
With both sides holding firm to their positions, the prospect of an early resolution appears unlikely, leaving the situation in a state of continued tension and unpredictability.
