DC Nishant Kumar Yadav Reviews Census Training Progress, Orders Action Against Absentees

Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): A high-level review meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, to assess the progress of ongoing Census training activities across the district.

The meeting was attended by all ten Charge Officers along with key stakeholders from various departments involved in the planning and execution of Census operations. The primary focus was to evaluate the status of training programmes, identify challenges, and ensure the timely and effective implementation of all preparatory work.

During the course , it was informed that training sessions for supervisors and enumerators are being conducted smoothly as per schedule, with most participants actively engaging in the modules. However, the Deputy Commissioner took serious note of the absence of 59 trainees from the sessions. Expressing concern, he directed the Education Department to issue show-cause notices to the defaulters and initiate appropriate disciplinary action as per rules to ensure accountability.

To further streamline the process, the Deputy Commissioner suggested organizing dedicated self-enumeration camps across all government offices under the Chandigarh Administration. He emphasized that proper coordination should be ensured so that employees can complete their self-enumeration conveniently within the stipulated timeline. Departments were also urged to motivate their staff and lead by example to encourage wider public participation.

Highlighting the importance of awareness, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for a robust Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign. He recommended utilizing multiple platforms, including social media, cinema halls, and print media, to maximize outreach. He also called for innovative and targeted communication strategies to engage different sections of society and ensure the success of the Census exercise.

Officials reiterated their commitment to achieving the objectives efficiently, with a focus on increasing participation and maintaining accuracy in the upcoming Census operations.
