Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi chaired a high-level review meeting on Monday, April 13, 2026, to finalize preparations for a week-long statewide awareness campaign dedicated to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’. The campaign, which will run until April 20, 2026, aims to educate the public—specifically women—about the landmark women’s reservation legislation and its role in strengthening female empowerment in India’s democratic structure.
The campaign features a diverse range of activities designed to ensure maximum public participation. Key highlights include ‘Nari Shakti Padyatras’ (marches) scheduled for April 15 and 16 across every parliamentary constituency, involving students, self-help groups, and NCC volunteers. Additionally, between April 13 and 16, bike and scooty rallies will be organized in major cities to carry the message of empowerment. Town hall meetings and women’s conferences are also being held to foster community-level dialogue and address the practical implications of the act.
To reach the grassroots level, the state will utilize traditional and digital media. Nukkad Nataks (street plays) and folk cultural programs will be staged, while ‘Nari Shakti Walls’ will be established at prominent locations for women to share their thoughts and signatures in support. Simultaneously, digital platforms will host podcasts and video campaigns featuring prominent female thinkers. Municipal corporations and Panchayati Raj institutions have also been tasked with passing formal resolutions in support of the Act to further formalize the state’s endorsement.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Renu Bhatia, Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women, and Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary (Health). Chief Secretary Rastogi emphasized that coordinated efforts between departments are essential to make this initiative a success, describing the campaign as a vital step in making social justice a core part of the state’s political culture.
