Mumbai Prepares for State Funeral as Asha Bhosle’s Final Journey Set for Shivaji Park

Mumbai (Rajeev Sharma): The city of Mumbai is gearing up to pay its last respects to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, whose final rites will be conducted with full state honours at Shivaji Park on Monday afternoon. The revered artist passed away on Sunday at the age of 92, leaving behind an unparalleled musical legacy.

Her mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel, where family members, close associates, and admirers gathered to mourn the loss. The public will be allowed to pay their respects from 11 am before the cremation ceremony scheduled for 4 pm.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the residence to offer condolences and laid floral tributes, remembering her as a towering figure in India’s cultural history. Senior leaders, including Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, also paid homage and confirmed that the state funeral would be conducted with due honours.

Asha Bhosle had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital shortly before her demise, where doctors stated that she succumbed to complications arising from multiple organ failure. Her passing has triggered an outpouring of grief from across the country, with tributes pouring in from artists, political leaders, and fans worldwide.

Known for her versatility and timeless voice, Bhosle’s contribution to Indian music spans generations. From soulful melodies to energetic numbers, her songs remain deeply embedded in the nation’s cultural memory.

As preparations for her final journey continue, thousands are expected to gather in Mumbai to bid farewell to a voice that shaped the soundscape of Indian cinema for decades.
