Court Permits Amritpal Aide Varinder Fauji as Witness in Gurpreet Harino Murder Case

Gurpreet Singh :- In a significant development in the Gurpreet Singh Harino murder case, a local court has permitted the Special Investigation Team to present Varinder Singh Fauji, a close associate of Amritpal Singh, as a prosecution witness, a move expected to strengthen the ongoing investigation.

Gurpreet Singh was shot dead in his native village on October 9, 2024. Investigators believe the हत्या was the result of a larger conspiracy, with multiple individuals allegedly involved. During the course of the probe, the name of Amritpal Singh also surfaced. He is currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act.

Varinder Singh Fauji, a former army personnel, is presently lodged in Goindwal jail in Tarn Taran. He has also been accused in the 2023 Ajnala police station attack case. Officials believe that Fauji may possess crucial information related to the conspiracy behind the murder.

Sources said that the Additional District and Sessions Judge approved the SIT’s application on April 2. Fauji will now be produced before the court through a production warrant for further proceedings.

So far, 17 individuals have been named as accused in the case. Charges have been framed against 12 of them, while five remain absconding, including foreign-based gangster Arsh Dalla.

Investigations have also indicated that the victim was earlier associated with a group linked to Amritpal Singh but had later begun openly criticising him. This shift is being examined as a possible motive behind the killing.

Officials said further questioning and evidence collection could lead to more disclosures in the coming days, as the probe continues to uncover the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
