Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, RJ Sigurdson, will visit Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to strengthen the province’s international agricultural trade and showcase Alberta as a dependable supplier of high-quality food products.
The trip aims to expand Alberta’s presence in global markets, build on existing partnerships, and create new trade and investment opportunities for the province’s farmers and processors. By tapping into overseas markets, Alberta hopes to increase demand for its agricultural and food products while supporting local producers.
“This mission is a valuable opportunity to connect with partners from across the Middle East and Asia to showcase Alberta as a reliable, high-quality agri-food trading partner,” Minister Sigurdson said. “By attending Gulfood and meeting directly with global buyers and investors, we are opening doors to new markets that support food security abroad and create real opportunities for Alberta producers and processors.”
During the visit, Minister Sigurdson will attend Gulfood, the world’s largest food and hospitality trade show, where he will meet with investors, importers, distributors, and industry decision-makers from the Middle East. The UAE has expressed interest in collaborating with Alberta to strengthen food security, and this mission aligns with the province’s strategy to attract international investment and expand trade relationships.
The government of Alberta emphasized that mission expenses will be publicly disclosed, reflecting its commitment to transparency. The trip underscores Alberta’s broader effort to work with domestic and international partners to create new opportunities for businesses and communities both at home and abroad.
