Dense Fog to Grip 12 Punjab Districts as Cold Wave Intensifies, Strong Winds Expected

National Times Bureau :- The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for dense fog and cold conditions across several parts of northern India, including Punjab, over the coming days. According to the department, thick fog is expected to prevail during late night and early morning hours, significantly reducing visibility and posing challenges for daily activities.

States such as Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to witness dense fog, which may disrupt normal movement and increase risks for commuters. The prevailing weather conditions are expected to affect road, rail and air traffic, particularly during morning hours when visibility may drop sharply.

In Punjab and Chandigarh, foggy conditions have already set in, with cold and hazy weather being reported from multiple areas. The meteorological department has issued a dense fog alert for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka and Sri Muktsar Sahib. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, especially while travelling during early hours.

Weather officials have also indicated the possibility of strong winds in some parts of the region, which could further intensify the cold conditions. Authorities have urged motorists to drive carefully, use fog lights where necessary and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of extremely low visibility. The situation is being closely monitored, and further advisories may be issued depending on changes in weather patterns.
