National Times Bureau :- A major fire erupted late Thursday night at the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation’s renowned Hotel Dhauladhar in Dharamshala, Kangra district, officials confirmed. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported.
According to district authorities, flames were first spotted in the hotel’s kitchen area before rapidly spreading to the upper portions of the building. The structure’s old Deodar-wood roofing, officials said, allowed the fire to intensify within minutes.
Emergency teams launched a swift response. Four fire tenders reached the spot almost immediately, bringing the blaze under control in a short time. An SDRF unit was also sent as a precaution to assist in evacuation and rescue efforts.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa stated that all guests were moved out of the building safely as soon as smoke alarms triggered alerts. “Quick action by the fire brigade prevented a bigger disaster. There is no casualty. The extent of property loss will be evaluated,” he said.
The hotel, built in 1978, is a popular halt for tourists visiting Dharamshala. The district administration has now ordered a probe to determine the exact cause of the fire and to conduct a complete damage assessment.
A specialized team will soon be set up to investigate whether the incident was triggered by an electrical fault, a kitchen mishap, or any other technical issue, officials added.
