Chandigarh, November 13 — Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa announced that the Public Works Department (PWD) will soon establish a dedicated Vigilance Cell to ensure transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects. The cell will investigate complaints related to road and building quality, and strict legal and departmental action will be taken against anyone found guilty of irregularities. He further directed that Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (XENs) must conduct quality checks on 18 roads each month and submit detailed reports.
Presiding over a departmental review meeting at the Secretariat, Gangwa was joined by Additional Secretary Hitesh Kumar Meena, Engineer-in-Chief Rajeev Yadav, HSRDC Managing Director V.S. Malik, SEs, XENs, and other officials, while SDOs joined online. The meeting focused on district-wise progress and the current status of road construction projects.
Gangwa instructed officials to immediately hand over completed buildings to the concerned departments. He emphasized that all tendered projects—especially those listed in mining zones—must undergo mandatory inspection to ensure uncompromised quality standards. He said field engineers, including SDOs and JEs, must remain present during ongoing work and conduct regular inspections. Any negligence or public complaints should lead to immediate action and reporting. “The era of delaying work by hiding files is over. The public demands accountability, and we must deliver,” the minister asserted, adding that he will personally monitor progress.
‘Mhari Sadak’ App Under Review
The minister reviewed the progress of the ‘Mhari Sadak’ app, which serves as a direct communication link between citizens and the department. Officials informed that out of 6,523 complaints received so far, 2,611 have been resolved. Gangwa directed that pending complaints must be addressed on priority.
Instructions Ahead of Fog Season
In view of the upcoming fog season, Gangwa issued special directions to enhance road safety. He ordered that all highways and main roads must have visible white markings, reflector paint, and warning signboards. “Reduced visibility during winters leads to most accidents. Small safety measures can save many lives,” he said, urging officials to complete all preparations across districts before foggy conditions set in.
Gangwa Slams Congress Over ‘Vote Theft’ Claims
Addressing the media after the meeting, Gangwa launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of misleading the public. He said, “If votes were stolen, how did they win five seats? The truth is that the people have taught them a lesson.” Responding to Congress’s memorandum to the Governor, he added, “Their concern for the poor is mere showmanship. When BPL cards were issued, they questioned the number of poor; now, when income verification removes some names, they object again. During their rule, farmers’ lands were grabbed, and jobs were sold. Today, they remember the poor and farmers only for politics.”
Gangwa concluded by saying that the BJP government has built its governance on transparency, accountability, and public trust, unlike the Congress, which only thrives on spreading fear and misinformation.
