New Delhi, November 12, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Faridabad Police have seized the red Ford EcoSport (DL10CK0458) suspected to be linked to Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect in the Delhi car blast that killed at least eight people and injured several others near the Red Fort on Monday evening.
According to sources, before the explosion, Umar Nabi had stayed at a mosque on Asaf Ali Road near Ramlila Maidan. After leaving the mosque, he drove to the Sunehri Masjid parking lot, where he parked his car around 3:19 pm. Investigators are now analysing his mobile phone data and signal history to trace his movements and contacts prior to the blast.
Earlier this week, Delhi Police issued a citywide alert for the red EcoSport, which was registered in Umar’s name. The vehicle’s details were also shared with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police, and all border checkpoints, police posts, and stations across the National Capital Region were instructed to look out for the car.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into what authorities have officially declared a terrorist attack. The agency suspects the involvement of a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module and plans to visit Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad’s Dhouj, where Umar was reportedly associated.
In a significant forensic development, DNA samples of Umar’s mother and brother have been collected and sent to the AIIMS forensic laboratory for comparison with the remains recovered from the blast site. Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS Delhi, explained that DNA profiling remains the gold standard in forensic identification, helping establish both biological relationships and suspect identities in criminal cases.
“This is a powerful tool used in criminal investigations, disaster victim identification, and paternity tests,” Dr. Gupta said, confirming that the analysis would help confirm whether Umar was in the car that exploded.
According to police sources, Umar was earlier spotted driving the Hyundai i20 on the Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway before entering Delhi. Investigative teams are now reconstructing his travel route to piece together the final hours before the explosion.
An NIA spokesperson said a dedicated investigation team, led by officers of the Superintendent of Police rank and above, has been formed to conduct a comprehensive and coordinated probe into the blast, which authorities now believe was planned and executed by a Pakistan-based terror outfit.
