Dehradun, October 28, 2025: In a significant relief to thousands of retired employees, the Uttarakhand Government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state pensioners. The hike, based on the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, will provide much-needed financial support to retirees across the state.
According to an official notification issued by the Finance Department, the revised DA—now at 58 percent, up from 55 percent—will take effect from July 1, 2025. The decision aims to help pensioners cope with inflation and maintain their purchasing power amid rising living costs.
The order, signed by the Finance Secretary, confirms that the revised rate will apply to all government pensioners whose pensions were fixed under the Seventh Pay Commission. The benefits will also extend to retired teachers and non-teaching staff of state-aided educational institutions under the School and Technical Education Department, ensuring parity with government pensioners.
Officials said the move aligns Uttarakhand’s pension policy with the Central Government’s DA structure, reflecting the Dhami administration’s commitment to social welfare and fiscal discipline.
Chief Minister Dhami’s decision has been widely welcomed as a compassionate step toward supporting senior citizens who have served the state. The government emphasized that it remains dedicated to implementing pro-employee measures promptly and transparently, in line with its governance philosophy of inclusivity and accountability.
The DA hike not only safeguards the financial security of retired employees but also reinforces the government’s vision of balanced economic growth that prioritizes welfare alongside fiscal prudence.
