New Delhi, October 19, 2025 — President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to citizens on the eve of Diwali, urging everyone to celebrate the festival safely, responsibly, and in an environment-friendly manner.
In her message, President Murmu said Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. She described it as a festival celebrated with immense fervour across the country, spreading a message of mutual affection, harmony, and brotherhood.
“On this day, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. The festival of joy is also an occasion for self-reflection and self-improvement,” the President said.
She further urged citizens to ensure their celebrations respect the environment and promote safety. “May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all,” President Murmu added, extending her heartfelt wishes to Indians in the country and abroad.
