Haryana Launches Procurement of Kharif Pulses and Oilseeds Across 100 Mandis, Moong Production Hits Record High

Chandigarh, September 24 — The Haryana government has rolled out procurement of Kharif pulses and oilseeds for the 2025-26 marketing season across more than 100 mandis. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed the procurement arrangements and production status on Monday, stressing that farmers must not face any inconvenience during the process.

According to the schedule, procurement of moong will continue from September 23 to November 15 across 38 mandis. Arhar procurement is scheduled for December in 22 mandis, while urad will be procured in 10 mandis. Groundnut procurement will run from November 1 to December 31 in 7 mandis. Sesame procurement is slated for December in 27 mandis, while soybean and black sesame will be procured in October-November in 7 and 2 mandis respectively.

The Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure timely procurement, along with adequate storage facilities and availability of gunny bags in mandis. He underlined that seamless operations are critical to ease the burden on farmers.

Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Pankaj Agarwal, informed that the area under moong cultivation increased from 1.09 lakh acres in 2024-25 to 1.47 lakh acres in 2025-26. Yield has also improved from 300 kilograms per acre to 400 kilograms per acre. As a result, moong production is estimated to rise from 32,715 metric tonnes to 58,717 metric tonnes. Similar improvements have been reported in the cultivation and productivity of arhar and urad, while sesame farming expanded from 800 acres to 2,116 acres, with projected production of 446 metric tonnes.

The review meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Cooperation Department, Vijayendra Kumar, Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, D. Suresh, Agriculture Director Rajnarayan Kaushik, and other senior officials.
