Partial solar eclipse to occur on September 21, but India will miss the spectacle; Where will it be visible?

National Times Bureau :- A partial solar eclipse is set to take place on September 21, in which the Moon will cover a portion of the Sun. However, this celestial event will not be visible from India.

According to Space.com, the eclipse will begin at 1:29 pm EDT (10:59 pm IST) and reach its peak at 3:41 pm EDT (1:11 am IST), when the Moon will cover the largest part of the Sun. The eclipse is expected to end at 5:53 pm EDT (3:23 am IST).

Where will it be visible?

The partial solar eclipse will be observable across parts of the Southern Hemisphere, including Australia, Antarctica, and regions over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Observers in Asia, Africa, and the Americas will miss this event. In India, the Sun will have already set by the time of the eclipse, making it impossible to witness.

What is a partial solar eclipse?

A partial solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, blocking a portion of the Sun’s light. Eclipses can be total, annular, hybrid, or partial depending on the alignment. The September 21 event will be partial, with only part of the Sun obscured by the Moon.

Next solar eclipse:

The next solar eclipse is expected on February 15, 2026. It will be an annular eclipse visible in parts of Antarctica, Africa, South America, and over the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Oceans. Like the September 21 event, it will not be visible in India.
