Punjab Braces for Light Rain in Seven Districts as Monsoon Nears Exit

Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): The monsoon season is set to bid farewell to Punjab within the next three days, but before its departure, several districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.

According to the forecast, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali, Nawanshahr, and Fatehgarh Sahib are expected to see cloudy skies with occasional drizzle. Other districts are predicted to remain largely dry.

Heat persists in some regions
Even as the rains offer short-term relief, parts of Punjab continued to reel under hot weather. Ludhiana was recorded as the warmest location with a maximum temperature of 37.1°C. Mansa touched 36.6°C, while Bathinda registered a low of 24°C. The Met office says the incoming showers will help bring down temperatures and reduce the stickiness caused by humidity.

Advisory for cultivators
Officials have urged farmers to stay cautious and safeguard their standing crops. “This spell will be helpful, but precautionary measures must be taken to prevent losses,” the advisory stated.

Rivers show declining trend
With reduced rainfall in the hills, water levels in major rivers have been consistently receding. Authorities confirmed that normalcy is gradually returning, and ongoing sanitation drives led by the state government are progressing across villages.

Residents can expect a brief cool spell as the monsoon makes its final exit, bringing an end to the discomfort of sultry days that have troubled Punjab for the past several weeks.
