New Delhi, August 17, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major National Highway projects in the national capital—the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
The Prime Minister received a warm welcome from citizens as his convoy reached the venue. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present at the event to extend greetings.
The 10.1 km Delhi stretch of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of Rs 5,360 crore, is designed to strengthen multi-modal connectivity with Yashobhoomi, the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka bus depot.
The Alipur–Dichaon Kalan segment of UER-II, constructed at a cost of Rs 5,580 crore, is expected to reduce congestion on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads while ensuring seamless connectivity with Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. This will boost industrial development and the movement of goods across the NCR.
Both projects form part of the government’s larger plan to ease traffic in Delhi and create modern, world-class infrastructure.
