Kapil Sharma’s Canada Café Vows Resilience After Shooting Claimed by Khalistani Terrorist

Surrey (Rajeev Sharma) : Kap’s Café, the Canadian eatery owned by popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma, has vowed not to bow to violence after coming under attack in a shocking shooting incident late Wednesday night.

In an emotional post on Instagram, the café located in Surrey, British Columbia said the gunfire had left them shaken, but resolute.

“We opened Kap’s Café with hopes of bringing warmth, community and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversations. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up,” read the café’s statement.

The attack occurred around 1:50 am local time on Thursday, when unidentified assailants fired multiple shots at the café. Police said approximately 12 bullets were discharged, shattering glass windows and damaging the property while staff were still inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Shortly after the attack, Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claimed responsibility for the shooting. Laddi, a most-wanted militant listed by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), is affiliated with the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) group.

Sources suggest that Laddi cited past remarks by Kapil Sharma as the motive behind the firing, though it remains unclear whether the café itself was the intended target or if the incident was meant as a warning to the comedian.

“This café exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Café remains a place of warmth and community,” the café’s Instagram message added, thanking well-wishers for their support and prayers.

Canadian journalist Sameer Kaushal shared a video on social media showing bullet holes piercing the café’s glass frontage, underlining the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Surrey Police Service confirmed they are investigating potential motives and connections to other incidents. “There is currently no suspect information available to share,” the department stated.

Police are gathering evidence and reviewing CCTV footage while appealing to witnesses to come forward.

The attack has sparked concern among the local business community and the South Asian diaspora in British Columbia, raising fears of escalating overseas violence linked to extremist elements.
