Chandigarh, July 6 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday affirmed that his government is steadfastly working to serve the last person in the queue, following in the footsteps of freedom fighter and Jan Sangh founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Paying floral tributes on the 125th birth anniversary of Mookerjee at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister hailed him as a towering personality who dedicated his life to national interest and welfare of the poor. “Dr. Mookerjee’s ideals continue to guide us. He always prioritized service to the nation and the underprivileged,” Saini said while speaking to reporters.
Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister also planted a sapling under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name). He encouraged citizens to plant trees in the names of great personalities to help protect the environment. Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli also paid floral tributes and participated in the plantation drive.
Key Meeting on SYL Canal Dispute
On the pressing issue of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, CM Saini announced that a crucial meeting will be held on July 9 in New Delhi to discuss solutions through dialogue. “We share a fraternal bond with Punjab, and I am hopeful that a way forward will emerge from this discussion,” he said.
Jungle Safari and Disney-Like Attraction for NCR
Highlighting new developmental plans, Saini revealed that Haryana is working on establishing a large-scale jungle safari project. Recently, he visited the Vantara Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which rescues and treats injured and abandoned animals and protects endangered species. “A similar initiative will soon take shape in Haryana to promote conservation,” he added.
Saini also disclosed that he has proposed the creation of a Disneyland-like theme park in the NCR region. A 500-acre site has been identified for the project, which he said would become a major tourist attraction and entertainment hub for citizens.
