New Delhi (National Times): In a first-of-its-kind move, the Government of India will roll out a FASTag-based Annual Toll Pass for non-commercial private vehicles starting August 15, 2025, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced today.
The pass, costing Rs 3,000, will be valid for 200 toll trips or one year, whichever comes first, across all National Highways in the country. It is exclusively meant for private cars, jeeps, and vans.
The Annual Pass comes in response to widespread public frustration over frequent toll deductions and bottlenecks, particularly at plazas less than 60 km apart. “This policy is designed to eliminate those concerns. It will save both time and money for lakhs of Indian travelers,” Gadkari said.
Activation and renewals will be available through the Rajmarg Yatra App, and the websites of NHAI and MoRTH. The digital integration ensures a contactless and hassle-free user experience.
With this move, the government hopes to encourage more use of highways while ensuring fair toll collection without frequent disruptions.
